Meet Royce

Lifelong Atlanta Student

I’m Royce Mann, a lifelong Atlantan, community organizer, and proud graduate of Atlanta Public Schools and Emory University. I’ve spent years working alongside educators, families, and policymakers to strengthen our public schools and expand opportunity for every student.

Education has always been central to my life and my family’s story. My grandmother, Connie Stewart, helped shape the U.S. Department of Education, and her lifelong commitment to learning and service inspires my work every day.

Atlanta’s families deserve leadership that listens, collaborates, and delivers results. Across our city, teachers are working tirelessly, parents are doing everything right, and yet too many students, especially those from vulnerable and under-resourced communities, still struggle to access the opportunities they deserve. I’m running to change that.

Why I'm Running

Atlanta’s public schools have incredible potential, but potential isn’t enough. Our students need action. I’m running for the Atlanta Board of Education to ensure that every child can read confidently, learn safely, and graduate ready for college, career, and life.

My experience as a community organizer, nonprofit leader, and policy advocate has taught me how to bring people together and get things done. I’ve worked with teachers fighting for resources, students calling for relevance, and parents seeking real partnership. Together, we share one goal: every public dollar should strengthen classrooms and improve outcomes for students.

We Need Fighters

We need a strong first line of defense for our public schools, and I am ready to do what’s needed to protect, support, and empower Atlanta’s students, families, and educators. I was a member of the GO-Team at Grady High School, served on the district’s LGBTQIA+ Taskforce, and worked directly for the Board as a Policy Intern. I know how our Board of Education works and how it doesn’t, and I’ll fight every day to create an APS that is truly accountable to student outcomes, not to special interests!
